On Friday, Aug. 7, Erickson-Hall Construction Co. in partnership with the San Diego Unified School District, celebrated the grand opening of America’s Finest Charter School’s modernized campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This multiphase transformation provides the campus with modern learning environments, complete with brand-new academic buildings, state-of-the-art athletic facilities, play structures and overall campus upgrades.
“Managing a project of this scale required extensive coordination, planning and collaboration,” said Senior Architect Garrick Oliver. “From the ground-up construction of the two-story elementary building to the addition of the new multipurpose facility, the Erickson-Hall team has worked hard to bring this vision to life.”
Designed to completely transform the campus and elevate the student experience, the project was completed across three increments and four phases. Phase one began with the construction of a brand new, two-story, 25,793 square-foot building for elementary students, complete with structural steel and metal stud framing. The second phase focused on extensive renovations on the existing 9,865-square-foot wood-frame middle school building. New upgrades included structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and fire protection features, alongside a dedicated new kindergarten playground.
The final component of the transformation was the ground-up construction of a 7,598 square-foot multi-purpose building crafted with masonry, structural steel and metal studs. This final addition features a new kitchen, an expanded parking lot, a synthetic turf field, ornamental perimeter fencing and updated hardscape throughout school grounds. Erickson-Hall also added additional improvements to the campus and created room for all new upper level play areas for students to enjoy.
