Erickson-Hall Construction Co., in partnership with Covina-Valley Unified School District, successfully completed the extensive modernization of the Covina High School aquatics center, marking a highly anticipated milestone. Using the Lease-Leaseback method, the state-of-the-art project provides modernized swimming pools complete with essential equipment to serve student-athletes for decades to come.
The updated complex features a newly constructed 35m x 25 yd concrete pool where students can train and compete at a high level. To enhance the spectator experience, the campus updates also include aluminum bleacher seating alongside the brand-new pool. On game days, student-athletes can use the new scoreboard structure, designed to provide students with a competition-ready environment.
Beyond the pool, the transformed facility is engineered for elite athletic performance. Modernized project elements feature a fully renovated pool equipment building, energy-efficient LED aquatic lighting for evening events and a pool timing system. Covina High School’s upgraded campus demonstrates the school’s commitment to instilling a strong sense of pride and community for its students.
“The aquatics center is an exceptional facility for our student-athletes,” said Director of Maintenance, Operations and Facilities, Keith Kovach. “We want to provide Covina High students with the best facilities that encourage their athletic ambitions and working alongside Erickson-Hall ensured a smooth process from start to finish.”
To support long-term durability and safety, the project scope incorporated essential infrastructure upgrades. Additions include galvanized ornamental iron fencing and gates, miscellaneous concrete and asphalt paving, site work, re-routing and upgrade of low-voltage cabling and associated subgrade utilities and patching.
“This project represents a strong, collaborative partnership between our team and Covina-Valley Unified School District,” said Mat Gates, President of Erickson-Hall. “We are proud to deliver a high-quality aquatics venue that reflects the district’s dedication to ensuring students are provided with top-tier athletic facilities.”
