Banning, CA (October 25, 2024) – Banning Unified School District, in partnership with Erickson-Hall Construction Co., will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Oct. 28, at 10:30 a.m., celebrating the grand opening of the newly upgraded Florida Street Discovery Center (671 N Florida St).

This transformative project has expanded and upgraded the District’s preschool and TK campus, creating a more inclusive and modern learning environment. The renovations include four new state-of-the-art TK classrooms and two new preschool classrooms designed to support students with special needs.

“Banning Unified School District is thrilled to unveil the newly revitalized classrooms and playground at Florida Street Discovery Center,” said Terrence Davis, Superintendent of Banning Unified School District. “This project is a testament to our commitment to providing every student with an inclusive, state-of-the-art learning environment. The new classrooms and upgraded facilities will not only accommodate our growing student population but will also foster a more enriching and supportive educational experience, particularly for our youngest learners and students with special needs. We are grateful for our partnership with Erickson-Hall Construction Co. and the positive impact this will have on our community for years to come.”

The new 25,000-square-foot facility is now seamlessly connected to the original campus via a protected walkway, enhancing student safety and accessibility. Additional project components include updates to the school kitchen, cafeteria and administrative spaces for faculty and staff.

The Oct. 28 ribbon-cutting ceremony will include student participation, highlighting the project’s impact. Community members, district officials and project partners will also be on hand to celebrate.

“Erickson-Hall Construction Co. is proud to have partnered with Banning Unified School District to construct this inclusive, modernized facility where all students can thrive,” said Erickson-Hall President Mat Gates. “This project will ensure that the Florida Street Discovery Center can meet the current and long-term needs of students, expanding the program’s capacity to serve the community.”
