Imperial, CA – On April 10, Erickson-Hall Construction Co. joined Imperial Unified School District to celebrate the grand opening of new career technical education (CTE) and agricultural facilities at Imperial High School. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the successful completion of a transformative project designed to enhance student learning through real-world, hands-on experiences.

“We are thrilled to open these cutting-edge facilities to our students,” said Bryan Thomason, Superintendent of Imperial Unified School District. “We are proud to be able to offer rich real-world learning opportunities right here on campus, helping students build valuable skills and explore meaningful career paths. Partnering with Erickson-Hall has allowed us to bring this vision to life in a big way.”

The project — which was managed by Erickson-Hall under a construction management multi-prime delivery method — included two major components: the construction of a state-of-the-art CTE building and the seismic rehabilitation and modernization of the school’s existing agricultural facility.

Completed in just 14 months, the new CTE building features robust construction with concrete masonry bearing walls, sturdy metal framing and a durable steel roof. The covered entrances are also reinforced with steel frames and concrete columns for added support. Both new construction and modernization efforts included high-quality interior and exterior finishes that reflect the standards of a 21st century learning environment.

Funded by Measure O — a $40-million bond measure approved by local voters in 2016 — the new facilities will house what district officials have called the most advanced agricultural welding lab and shop in the state of California.

“We are incredibly proud to deliver this cutting-edge project that will prepare Imperial High School students for future success,” said Mat Gates, President of Erickson-Hall Construction Co. “Our partnership with Imperial Unified School District reflects our commitment to transforming educational spaces into modern learning environments that serve both students and the broader community for years to come.”

The new facilities are now fully operational, providing Imperial High School students with direct access to career pathways in agriculture, welding and other technical trades.
