Santa Monica, CA — Erickson-Hall Construction Co., in partnership with the Santa Monica‑Malibu Unified School District and the community at Grant Elementary School, recently celebrated the official groundbreaking for a new renovation project on the Grant Elementary campus.
Held on Oct. 22, the ceremony brought together district officials, school leadership, community members and Erickson-Hall team members to mark the start of construction on a project that will deliver new, modern facilities to Grant, designed to enhance early learning, creativity and collaboration.
“The Grant Elementary community is thrilled to see this vision become a reality,” said Sheere Bishop-Griego, Director of Procurement and Contract Management (Consultant, FIP Department) for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District. “This project reflects years of collaboration and thoughtful planning to ensure our youngest learners have the modern, inspiring spaces they need to grow and succeed.”
Erickson-Hall is leading the renovation of the early elementary building, library and courtyard. The project includes improvements to 4,000 square feet of an existing one-story early elementary building and its outdoor play yard, adding new restrooms, workrooms, storage areas and three new Pre-K and TK classrooms. It also features upgrades to the Library and Courtyard, including a temporary portable library, renovation of about 5,500 square feet of existing space and a 250-square-foot library expansion to better serve students and staff.
“We’re thrilled to turn the first shovel of dirt on this important project, which will transform the learning experience at Grant Elementary for years to come,” said Mat Gates, President at Erickson-Hall Construction Co. “Our team is honored to partner with Grant Elementary School and the Santa Monica community to deliver a facility that supports student success, collaboration and future-ready learning.”
