As Vice President of Risk Management, Steve Rogers has spent nearly a decade keeping Erickson-Hall’s Southern California job sites safe, secure and seamless.

For Steve, what started as a childhood passion for Legos blossomed into a lifelong career in construction. Early on in his career, Steve found himself drawn to complex projects, where he learned that true progress depends on staying two steps ahead of potential disruptions.

“I’ve always gravitated towards difficult projects, and those usually had challenges related to risk, claims, losses and performance issues with subcontractors,” Steve said. “That led to a role as a problem solver, and that led to being a risk manager.”

Today, Steve taps his decades of experience to spot potential risks early, resolve complex claims and put preventative measures in place. In his eyes, the real mark of success isn’t how well you handle a crisis but stopping an issue long before it turns into one. To accomplish this, Steve centralized Erickson-Hall’s insurance tracking into a single, in-house software system. This created firm-wide consistency and positioned the firm to embrace future operational tools.
Beyond systems and software, Steve knows the industry runs on relationships, and that effective project oversight requires open communication and genuine connection.

“Building a personal relationship with the people you deal with and actually talking face-to-face and taking time to listen is important,” Steve said. “Everybody is human and everybody has a story. If you build a relationship, you can better understand their motivation.”

This core value directly shapes the client experience. When visiting an active job site, Steve ensures Erickson-Hall’s clients experience a smooth, well-managed operation. When evaluating the performance and efficiency of a project, he looks for a secure work environment, quality work free of defects, a satisfied client and repeat business.

As Steve embarks on his well-earned retirement, his work advancing project safety, risk management and smooth operations will always remain at the core of Erickson-Hall. Thank you, Steve, for your nine years of dedication and leadership at Erickson-Hall!
