FloJo School Breaks Ground in City Heights

The ground has been broken on the new Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary School. The school on 6.3 acres in City Heights will include 55,666 square feet of facilities, 32 classrooms, a library, multipurpose room, technology and energy-efficient design features and a joint-use grass playfield.

The general contractor is Erickson-Hall and the school was designed by JCJ/blackman architecture inc. For San Diego City Schools, the project manager is Francisco Campuzano, the construction manager is Javier Carillo, and the project inspector is Ron Lintz. The project is scheduled to be completed in fall 2006 and is funded by Proposition MM, the 1998 bond measure that provides $1.51 billion for repairs and construction at San Diego City Schools.
